"Radiant Ruffles" is a 12x12 portrayal of ranunculus flowers, each petal painted in soft, pastel tones that evoke a sense of warmth and welcome. The delicate brushwork highlights the intricate ruffles of the blooms, capturing their natural elegance and radiance. This painting exudes a gentle charm, making it an inviting addition to any space seeking a touch of subtle beauty.
Encaustic, from the Greek "enkaustikos" meaning "to heat or burn in," combines natural beeswax and dammar resin. I create my pieces using wax mediums, pigment blocks, oil paints, and occasionally pigment sticks, applying the hot wax with various tools and fusing with a blow torch.
Each artwork is presented on high-quality birch or maple panels, ready to hang or elegantly display on a shelf. Like any fine art, encaustic paintings should be kept at room temperature and away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures; wax melts at 150°F / 65°C.
